We are delighted to share that MedSecurance has been featured in the HIMSS European Projects Insight Report 2025, a flagship publication highlighting 12 groundbreaking EU-funded initiatives that are shaping the future of digital health across Europe.

A Pan-European Vision for Digital Health

The European Projects Insight Report, developed under the HIMSS European Projects Initiative 2025, brings together key insights, case studies, and policy recommendations from EU-funded projects that are redefining healthcare through innovation, collaboration, and data-driven transformation.

From interoperability and AI ethics to cybersecurity and patient empowerment, the report explores how Europe’s research ecosystem is tackling some of the most pressing challenges facing healthcare systems today. It is also designed to serve as a policy-facing and innovation-oriented resource for decision-makers, researchers, and project consortia working to align with European digital health priorities.

MedSecurance: Building Trust in Connected Healthcare

Within this year’s edition, MedSecurance is recognised for its work on advancing cybersecurity and safety assurance in the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT).

Our project focuses on developing novel methodologies, infrastructures, and technologies to ensure that connected medical systems are secure, resilient, and compliant with European regulatory frameworks such as the GDPR, Medical Devices Regulation (MDR), and the Cybersecurity Act.

Through its integrated approach, MedSecurance aims to strengthen trust in digital health systems by helping medical device manufacturers, hospitals, and regulatory bodies adopt secure-by-design engineering principles. The project’s comprehensive toolbox — including model-based engineering tools, AI-driven risk assessment, and automated compliance management — supports real-time security assurance and continuous system evolution.

“MedSecurance is not just about building tools; it’s about building trust in the digital health ecosystem. Our integrated approach empowers healthcare organisations to proactively tackle cybersecurity challenges, ensuring patient safety and data integrity in an increasingly connected world.”— Konstantinos Katzis, Associate Professor, European University Cyprus

Collaboration and Recognition

Being part of this collective initiative — alongside leading projects such as CYLCOMED, ENTRUST, FLUTE, IDERHA, and Gravitate-Health — underscores MedSecurance’s contribution to Europe’s wider goal of building a secure, interoperable, and patient-centric digital health ecosystem.

The report also highlights how collaboration across sectors — from academia and industry to regulatory bodies and patient organisations — is essential for ensuring that digital transformation in healthcare delivers sustainable, equitable outcomes.

Looking Ahead

As the European Health Data Space (EHDS) continues to evolve, cybersecurity and trust remain at the heart of digital transformation. MedSecurance will continue its work to develop practical, standards-aligned tools that enable healthcare organisations to protect data, manage risks, and maintain patient confidence in digital innovation.

We thank HIMSS Europe and the European Projects Advisory Board for recognising MedSecurance’s contribution and for providing a platform that connects EU-funded research with real-world impact.
