BioAssist SA took part in the EU-funded MedSecurance project, bringing real-world remote monitoring expertise to strengthen cybersecurity and assurance for connected medical devices (IoMT). As a Greek SME specializing in advanced digital health, especially Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) and assisted living, BioAssist brought real world implementation expertise through its integrated IoT-enabled platform that connects patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals for continuous monitoring and proactive care.

Within MedSecurance, BioAssist contributed as a use case partner by evaluating the MedSecurance Toolbox in realistic deployment conditions and translating technical outputs into actionable feedback for the R&D teams. Our evaluation scenarios covered end-to-end system integration topics such as cloud and Bluetooth connectivity, safe FHIR-compliant multimedia storage, and emergency response mechanisms, ensuring that security and resilience are assessed where they matter most.

Our contribution was centered on:

  • Remote Patient Monitoring Use Case Validation: Defining, implementing, and validating practical clinical scenarios in collaboration with Hygeia Hospital, integrating MedSecurance capabilities into existing processes and assessing cybersecurity challenges in operational healthcare environments.

  • System Architecture & Risk Analysis: Designing and documenting the architecture of BioAssist’s solution using the IoMT Modeling Tool, and identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and threats linked to device integration, data communication, and user interaction using the TVRA Tool and Communication Recommendations Tool.

  • Regulatory Compliance & EU MDR Alignment: Supporting analysis of device classification and certification pathways under the EU Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR) using the Assurance Tool, helping ensure MedSecurance outputs map to real regulatory expectations.

By bridging clinical practice, IoT technology, and cybersecurity research, BioAssist helps strengthen trust, safety, and continuity in digital healthcare, enabling connected medical systems that are both innovative and secure.
