Two technical papers presented at PETRA conference
Project partners from the MedSecurance project have presented two technical papers at the 17th annual Pervasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments (PETRA) conference that was held on 26-28 June in Crete. The team from University of Warwick presented a paper titled: Semi-Automated Threat, Vulnerability & Risk Assessment (TVRA) for Medical Devices, which introduces the Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessment (TVRA) methodology developed in the MedSecurance project specifically designed for Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices and the unique cyber-security challenges they pose in the healthcare sector. The paper describes key technologies that comprise the TVRA tool to enhance the security and reliability of healthcare services, ensuring the protection of sensitive health information and maintaining the trust of patients and providers. The paper is available at this link.
A second paper was also presented that was prepared jointly by all of the MedSecurance research and development partners CEA, European University of Cyprus, University of Birmingham, University of Warwick and The Open Group and in collaboration with partners from other Horizon European projects addressing cyber-security of medical systems. The paper is titled: A Way Forward for the MDCG 2019-16 Medical Device Security Guidance, which presents a gap analysis of the current MDCG 2019-16 Medical Device Regulation guidelines identifying key gaps and proposing a robust set of recommendations to enhance the IoMT regulatory framework. The paper brings together the considerable consensus across the Horizon Europe projects in many recommendation themes, notably: linking cyber-security with patient safety and privacy; keeping the guidelines current; and usage recipes for the guidelines. The paper also suggests technology toolkit solutions to address some of the recommendations. The paper is available at this link.
